STAGE SELECTION

GAME ONE

  1. Players declare their characters. You may ask a TO or a trusted third party for a double-blind if you wish.

  2. Winner of RPS decides if they will ban first or second.

  3. First player bans one stage from the starter list.

  4. Second player bans two stages (i.e. leaves two).

  5. First player chooses from the remaining two stages.

  6. Counterpick stages cannot be picked in game one.

GAME TWO ONWARDS

  1. Loser of previous game chooses any stage from the starter or counterpick list that they have not previously won on in the set (DSR).

  2. Winner of previous game may then change their character.

  3. Loser of previous game may then change their character.

NO GENTLEMAN'S CLAUSE

  • Players cannot play on illegal stages, or otherwise alter any rules, even if agreed upon by both players.

NON-STANDARD GAME ENDS

TIMEOUTS

In the event of a timeout, the winner is the player with more stocks, or if stocks are even, the lower percent. In the event both players have the same number of stock and percent, a tiebreaker is played on the same stage (see below). Games are not decided by Sudden Death.

DOUBLE KOS

TIEBREAKERS

In the event both players die at the same time, resulting in a sudden death, a tiebreaker is to be played on the same stage (see below).

If a tiebreaker is required, players will replay the game with one stock and two minutes on the same stage.

OTHER ENDINGS

In all other circumstances, the winner is as displayed in the results screen.

OTHER RULES

GLITCHES

Deliberate use of glitches that freeze the game, or make the game unplayable for one or more character on the screen, are strictly banned. This includes Ice Climbers' Freeze glitch and Mewtwo's Soul Breaker glitch.

DARK COSTUMES

Players may request their opponent not use specific costume colours on Battlefield or Kongo Jungle 64 due to the dark background on those stages making it difficult to clearly see dark costume colours.

STALLING

Deliberate stalling of the match is banned, at a TOs or Pool Captain's discretion. Techniques like repeated use of Rising Pound, or Peach Bomber against a wall, are not stalling if being used to recover or mix up recovery timing, hence a TOs discretion being required.

LEDGE GRAB LIMIT

In the event of a timeout, if one (and only one) player has exceeded 45 ledge grabs, that player loses the game. Otherwise, normal timeout rules apply.
